Plus Plus Quilt for Marianne from Dizzy Quilts

Over the years, I've made many quilts for my children and grand-children. Nothing pleases me more than seeing my quilts displayed in their homes or seeing my grand-babies wrapped in them. And when my youngest daughter moved out on her own, she requested a quilt for her bed. 

I haven't made a quilt this big in a long while and I knew it would take a long time for me to piece and quilt so I decided to go with a simple pattern: Plus Plus by Cheryl Brickey of Meadow Mist Designs.

A Pink Postage Plus Quilt Finish from Dizzy Quilts

My husband owns an old classic car - a 1968 Dodge Coronet which he just loves. He is constantly tinkering with it, fixing this and that and to help him, he's good friends with a mechanic. This friend has spent a lot of time on the car and during one of his visits, hubby discovered that his wife is a crafter and a huge fan of the colour pink. So to thank them, he asked me to make her a quilt.

Wonky Plus Signs Finish from Dizzy Quilts

I'm back with another plus sign quilt! This time however, I decided not to follow a pattern and use a bit of improv piecing to make wonky plus signs. These are so much fun because there are no seams to match up - they are perfect when you're tired and need a more relaxed, less precise kind of piecing.


I used black, white and grey scraps for the background squares and pink and purple scraps for the plus signs. I didn't have quite enough scraps for all the plus signs so decided to leave some of the background ...
